BASIC FUNCTION:
An Actuarial Analyst applies technical and mathematical skills to assist in the analysis of corporate financial results, and operational and strategic planning issues.LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks with limited supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Must demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to effectively train others. Proficiently performs tasks and works autonomously.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Data identification and manipulation using programming and spreadsheet skills.
-Preparation of Management Information reports and exhibits for Underwriting, Claims and Marketing functions.
-Support for actuarial pricing studies and loss reserves analysis.
-Maintenance of actuarial factors for the Large Risk Pricing Model.
-Assistance with rate filings.
-Peer company analysis.QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient on the Microsoft Professional Suite of software; Internet software, Vendor software and Billing systems.
Programming skills desired with SAS, SQL, Access and VBACERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: none required
