Bookkeeper (SOMA / south beach)

Full-time Bookkeeper for busy, expanding,Yerba Buena area, cultural nonprofit. Duties include Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Budget Management and Inventory for Retail Operation. B.S. in Accounting and 2 years experience in non-profit bookkeeping OR 4 years experience in non-profit bookkeeping. Bookkeeping for retail would be a plus. Must be proficient in Quickbooks and Excel, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
This position works closely with her/his colleagues, supervisors, and senior staff and serves as an essential team member in a complex nonprofit setting with several streams of income and layers of activity: archives, research library, collections, membership and donations, event rentals, bookstore and walking tours.
The ideal candidate will take the organization’s mission to heart, have a sense of humor, and feel comfortable collaborating with and assisting other team members in a collegial nonprofit setting.
Desired skills:
• Demonstrated and demonstrable verbal, written and digital communication prowess.
• Demonstrated to be an organized, detail-oriented self-starter who completes multiple assignments on schedule.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a multicultural, team environment of fluid boundaries and mutual support.
• Keen interest in history and heritage, in particular California history, a plus.
• Proficient in Quickbooks and Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Location:Yerba Buena area, building owned by organization.
