    The County of Sonoma Economic Development Board is seeking enthusiastic and experienced individuals to fill one Full-Time vacancy and one Part-Time (20 hours) vacancy

    Business Retention and Expansion Services (Full-Time) The Economic Development Specialist will be focus on results-oriented, business retention and expansion services, including performing an estimated 200 business visits a year in the unincorporated area as well as collaborating with other local partners. The position will manage programs such as the continuance of the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s C.E.D.S. program with the focus of job creation and to help retain and provide a growth landscape for businesses through enhanced infrastructure. The Business Retention and Development Specialist is also expected to take on programs such as the financial resources initiative, in researching/developing programs and tools to aid businesses with loan programs and incentive options, as well as exploring incentives for business expansion and attraction.

    Cluster Development Program (Part-Time) The part-time Economic Development Specialist will focus on the Cluster Development Program, including partnering with local stakeholders to provide educational and workforce development programs specific to the needs of the cluster groups. The position will also develop programs such as a networking group of small technology based firms and other clusters where deemed effective; continue promotion of the local tourism industry with support of local partners to target promotion and marketing of the clusters; and provide clusters with key information on emerging trends, best practices pursued by similar clusters in other areas, and identify emerging market opportunities. The position will also staff task forces whose charge are efforts to develop an inventory of the county’s strategic assets, current branding, marketing and outreach efforts and tools, examine success, redundancy, and areas of improvement.

    The most qualified candidates will possess significant experience working with economic development programs and data analysis, and working collaboratively with the community and stakeholders.
