Description:

Skybox Imaging seeks an experienced embedded systems software consultant to be part of a dynamic team to architect, design, and implement the flight software for a small remote sensing satellite.

Ideal candidates should have a broad range of skills and be comfortable with both hardware and software. Real-time embedded software development experience is a must. Familiarity with architecting and developing fault tolerant, high reliability, safety critical systems is desired. This position includes both systems architecture and hands-on code design. The ability to understand concurrency, real-time deadlines, mutual exclusion, race conditions, and synchronization issues in complex software systems is extremely important.

You must be self-motivated and detail oriented with conscientious work habits and an aspiration to learn constantly. You will be working closely with Engineers from various disciplines (mechanical, controls, RF communications) in a fast-moving, challenging, development environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, code, and test flight software as well as support spacecraft operations.
• Participate in the design of flight software from high-level conceptual design to code development, implementation & test.
• Implement software using the ‘C’ programming language using an embedded real-time operating system.

Qualifications:

• BS/MS (or higher) in the field(s) of Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of real-time embedded system software experience required
• C/C++ and assembly-level programming (microcontroller experience is a plus).
• Networks & Interfaces: CAN, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, RS-232,422,485.
• High-level and low level software design, coding, and test.
• The use of electronic test equipment and data acquisition systems.
• Strong hardware & software debugging skills (JTAG probes)
