Innkeeper at Historic Napa B&B (napa county)

  • Historic family-owned B&B specializing in small to large weddings and events is seeking qualified applicants for a year-round, full-time innkeeper posiiton. Includes working weekends and evenings until 9:00 p.m. The three-story mansion (no elevator) is located on an acre of gardens within walking distance of Downtown Napa.

    An overnight stay at the B&B includes a gourmet three-course breakfast, afternoon freshly-baked cookies, an evening two-hour wine and appetizer reception, as well as the complimentary use of tandem bicycles and croquet in the side garden. As there are only ten guest rooms, the innkeeper wears many hats throughout the day.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Checking in guests and acquainting them with the inn while escorting them to their rooms
    • Processing online and telephone bookings using a B&B reservation software
    • Charging out reservations online and completing appropriate paperwork
    • Taking orders for guests’ choices of daily-changing breakfast entrees, as well as serving the fruit course and entrées (the kitchen staff prepares all of the breakfast food)
    • Preparing afternoon cookies and arranging appetizer platters for the evening wine and appetizer receptions
    • Checking rooms after housekeeping and before guest arrivals
    • Checking common areas inside and outside for cleanliness and neatness
    • Assisting guests with dinner and winery recommendations, reservations, and directions, along with any other special requests
    • Corresponding via email and phone regarding weddings and group events, booking events, and preparing appropriate paperwork
    • Conversing generally with guests about the history and architecture of the inn, the original owners, the National Register Historic neighborhood, and the Napa Valley
    • And most importantly, always providing a warm and welcoming presence for everyone who visits the inn

    A qualified applicant should posses the following skills or traits:
    • Excellent written and communication skills
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills
    • Knowledge of Napa Valley wineries, restaurants, and activities
    • An outgoing, friendly, well-rounded, and warm personality
    • Possesses respect for the diverse opinions, cultures, backgrounds, personalities, and lifestyles of all guests and staff at the inn
    • Independent problem-solving skills, especially the ability to monitor daily operations and resolve issues as they arise or seek appropriate solutions
    • Culinary background a plus
    • Some Spanish a plus
