IT Support Associate (berkeley)

    As a technical support associate, you will be a key member of Zaytuna College’s administrative team, and will be responsible for managing the server, networks, and technical equipment. You will also be working to provide sustainable and secure solutions for the IT needs of the organization.

    Required Qualifications
    • 1-3 years performing computer, technical, or helpdesk support
    • Proficiency in Windows, Mac, LAMP stack, VOIP, and networked printers
    • Proficiency with MS Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Word
    • Proficiency with Cisco network and hardware, preferred web and database technologies, tools and protocols
    • Skill in troubleshooting and problem identification and resolution
    • Basic knowledge of applications programming technologies, tools, and protocols
    • Demonstrable customer service skills and positive attitude
    • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working in nonprofit, higher-education, or small business environments
    • Exceptional communication skills–must articulate technical issues to a diverse non-technical audience and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
    • Demonstrable organizational skills, commitment and follow-through–meets all commitments to staff and team, attends meetings and planning sessions, communicates status updates on ongoing projects, and completes tasks and deadlines as required
    • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others in a fast-paced dynamic environment
    • An enthusiastic user of new technologies, i.e., an early adopter
    • Initiative and ability to perform new tasks outside the candidate’s immediate range of skills
    • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Provide staff, faculty, and students support, consulting, training, documentation, and processes for effective use of computers, mobile devices, printers, phones, software, and other information systems and applications
    • Configure, and install workstations, including hardware, software, drivers, printers, and peripheral devices–perform routine and preventative maintenance
    • Effectively manage the Helpdesk process–provide clear and consistent status updates to ticket requester, resolve requests, document resolution, and close tickets in a timely manner
    • Troubleshoot and coordinate the resolution of technical issues for the organization from resolving network connectivity issues to showing users how to turn on their computer
    • Proactively document and manage the disaster recovery process
    • Document, manage, and execute crisis response plans with clear, consistent, and regular communication of service updates to staff
    • Meticulously manage the inventory of computer and network equipment, including hardware, software, printers, and other peripheral devices–includes research, procurement, license management and coordination with external vendors for products and services
    • Plan, configure, and implement network, server, hardware, software, and systems upgrades and document iterations
    • Perform routine and preventative network and server maintenance and systems administration, including but not limited to duties related to database, security, web, mail server and telecommunications administration, and document iterations
    • Provide event tech support, including room setup for computers, projection units, internet access, videoconferencing, and teleconferencing
    • Keep current with emerging technologies, standards, and best practices to grow expertise in job areas
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Salary and Benefits: This is a part/full-time, exempt position. Compensation will be commensurate with job requirements and experience.
