LINUX Systems Administrator – Trulia (SOMA / south beach)

As a member of a dynamic operations team, you will be working with colleagues and counterparts in engineering and business teams to make sure that our major platforms are planned, designed, deployed, and maintained in a sustainable and sane manner, helping us keep up with high rates of growth and expansion.
The team: You will work in San Francisco with a tightly knit group of UNIX experts with experience in small and large companies in various industry sectors and lifecycle phases. While each has their own subject matter focuses, we work together and cross-train so everyone is as competent as possible on all areas.
Responsibilities:
• Provide day-to-day configuration, monitoring and support for our production environment at multiple data centers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve systems, application, hardware and network issues.
• Maintain and improve system and process quality through effective documentation and communication.
• Respond quickly to outages as reported via email, telephone and/or paging. Participate in 24×7 production on-call rotation.
• Managing for sustainability, not just survivability. You think about how to make a process or a procedure work smoothly, rather than living on one-off efforts.
• Install and configure new servers with Linux, applications, tools and patches.
• Plan for and implement technologies in support of a rapidly growing web property.Requirements:
• 3-5 years operations experience with at least 2 years of Linux administration in a business-critical 24/7/365 production environment.
• Large scale datacenter deployments using automated installation and configuration management tools.
• Familiarity with datacenter best practices. Experience working in collocation facilities. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP/Perl/Python) server config/admin/tuning
• System monitoring experience (nagios, cacti, groundwork, etc)
• Solid scripting skills in Shell, Perl, PHP, Python or Ruby
• Networking, storage, virtualization, and hadoop experience are pluses
• 1 year of fiber-SAN or iSCSI-based NAS administration experience a plusUNIX is user-friendly, but it is selective about its friends. You’ll need to have worked in a production UNIX environment for several years, with current pertinent Linux production experience.
