Description:

Skybox is looking for an exceptional QA Manager to build and operate the systems that test our core infrastructure. You will build a team of QA engineers responsible for testing a system that processes terabytes of satellite image data into simple customer facing products that change the way the world sees itself. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will help us build a scalable data processing, storage, tasking and delivery system to support our unique data and products.

The ideal candidate will be deeply technical, hands-on experience delivering high quality, web-scale software in a production environment. The candidate should be well versed in software development practices and standards and comfortable and confident in working with Executive leadership, Product, Development, QA and Service Engineering. The candidate should have experience evaluating the quality of software and systems produced using an Agile development process.

Responsibilities:

• Define the QA processes and procedures necessary to evaluate the quality of a complex software system
• Create black box and white box test frameworks for all software components
• Define, create and run automated test scripts
• Build a team responsible for automating and running QA processes and procedures
• Work with Engineering Managers to ensure on-time delivery of high quality features
• Provide regular updates to executive leadership into the progress of projects
• Work with domain specialists and product managers to establish product roadmap priorities
• Lead and mentor QA engineers into a successful team
• Manage quality metrics on multiple simultaneous software development projects to
• Ensure success of strategic Skybox goals
• Work with Product Managers in early-cycle to define feature acceptance criteria
• Contribute to improving the overall software engineering standards and practices

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in delivering large-scale web based applications
• Programming in scripting languages such as Perl, Python or PHP. Skills in C/C++ or Java are a plus
• Strong record of delivering high quality software projects on time and on budget using Agile practices
• Experience with RESTful APIs
• Record of mentoring QA Engineers
• Experience with NoSQL technologies is preferred
• Experience managing the selection and adoption of high-level automation tools such as Selenium, Fit, etc.
• Experience with aerospace programs is a big plus
• Proven ability to evangelize process and technology across an organization
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills required
