Role and Responsibilities: Within the first 6 months of work, you will design, prototype, implement and deploy one or more major, mission-critical services in our new SOA underlying our multi-platform (web, iPhone, iPad, Android) games. The process will include developing an early understanding of the product, documenting design and code details. Write maintainable code with extensive test coverage, working in a professional software engineering environment (with continuous deployment). Own the code base that will transition us from a traditional web stack to a service-oriented architecture (SOA) to scale our products. Tackle complex problems in distributed systems, scalability, and more.
Requirements: ROBLOX places a high premium on engineers with a deep commitment to quality and a demonstrated understanding of underlying technologies. To apply for the role of Senior Software Engineer, you should have some or all of the following: A Bachelors or preferably Masters degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience. Strong experience building and scaling distributed, highly available systems. Experience with Service Oriented Architectures and monitoring tools. You are a do-er. You get keep the trains running on time as a rule of thumb.
Nice to Have: Experience working in short, agile, iterative development cycles. Experience working for a highly trafficked website with more than 1 million unique visitors per month.
