Active Ingredients, an SF Bay Area-based interactive agency, is seeking a Senior Interactive/Web Designer with 5+ years of agency and client experience designing interactive web experiences. Full time position or 6 month contract. Salary is commensurate with experience. Solid benefits for full time employees. Flexible work setting.

• Interesting all-digital clients: Websites, Landing Pages, Emails
• Flexible schedule with 8 hour days
• Studio in Marin, 3 minute walk from ferry terminal; ability to work remote

• 5+ years experience working on interactive design projects (e.g. web, email, mobile)

• Graphic design & typography mastery
• Photoshop, Illustrator expertise

You’re a fit if…

• You lead concepts and love to design digital experiences.
• First and foremost, you’re a visual designer who gets digital design. Your solutions are unique. They match and move beyond a project’s requirements and the client’s expectations. You do your research and generate a breadth of ideas.
• You are focused and can produce several polished directions for presentation.
• You understand how to evolve and create brands.
• Through the lens of digital, you can radically evolve a visual brand or you can build a new one from the ground up. You understand that business strategy informs what you create — the visual brands you develop are not just memorable, they’re right on target. Defining and documenting type and color palettes, graphic language, photographic and illustrative styles, and even copy tone and voice is something you’ve been doing for years.

You solve information problems.
You’re not an IA but you’re comfortable structuring information and designing interactions. You understand navigation systems, know the conventions and when to challenge them. Most important, you’re creative about interaction and can identify ways to improve exiting models.

You’re a pro.
You’re not a developer but you understand web-based technology and its impacts on design. Your typography is solid. You have mastery of color, composition, hierarchy and the creation of visual systems. You sweat the small stuff and know the value of “pixel perfect”.

You’re a communicator.
Client management is not your focus, but you know how to present your solutions. You defend design decisions, articulating rationale and purpose. You value collaboration and are ready to dialogue–both giving and receiving critique. You understand that building a sophisticated and high quality experience requires a team of experts, and that one of those experts is the client.
