Senior Privacy Paralegal (Temporary) – 02962 (foster city)

This position is for a temporary engagement through our staffing partner WorkForceLogic. The anticipated duration of this engagement is 4-6 months. The duration of the assignment cannot exceed 12 months.
Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC’s Legal & Business Affairs Department has immediate need for a senior-level paralegal for a 4-6 month project (with potential for an extended assignment) with legal expertise in the areas of project management and specifically in the areas of domestic and global/international privacy issues. The expertise needed includes experience building legal informational databases, cataloging laws, rules, regulations, as well as best practices; in this instance, the subject matter is data security (including data security breach)and consumer privacy (including data transfer). The experience required includes experience maintaining all the administrative matters for the project team, including meeting management and scheduling, meeting minutes, and document editing with some minor drafting. This position will initially be a key member of a project team to manage and advise on a data management project of international
scope, which will require harmonizing existing privacy policies and data management procedures across an international group of companies.- Must have experience creating legal informational databases
- Knowledge of and experience with laws, rules, regulations and best practices impacting data security, data transfer, consumer privacy, including Federal Trade Commission and international counterpart decisions, complaints and settlements related to consumer privacy, data collection, transfer and privacy and COPPA a plus
- Must have both administrative and subject matter contribution expertise in supporting a project management team
- Must have excellent reading and writing skills
- Must have strong interpersonal skills, meaning the ability to establish confidence and trust relationships groups external to SCEA, as well as foster and perpetuate a strong project team environment
Required Experience/Education:
- Must have the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and unambiguously without errors both verbally and in writing; must possess pleasant and professional demeanor
- Must be proficient in MS Word, Lotus Notes, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and Workshare Compare; must have strong drive to organize and order documents and information
- At least 5 years experience supporting project management
- At least 3 years direct experience building informational legal databases
- Familiarity with calendaring, scheduling and coordinating meetings
- Must enjoy working in a team environment
Preferred Experience/Education:
- At least 15 years legal experience or equivalent
- Experience drafting privacy policies
- A Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or equivalent
- Experience working with international counterparts/business partners in Europe and Japan
