Technical Support Engineer (emeryville)

  • We are currently looking for a Technical Support Engineer.     Responsibilities:

    •Provide extensive first-line and second-line telephone and electronic support for Innovative’s customers using Innovative software on large multi-user UNIX and LINUX systems.
    •Works with all levels of customers with varying levels of technical expertise in effectively resolving issues in an expedient manner.
    •Present, learn and apply new technology as needed.
    •Conducts proactive customer follow-up in addition to escalating issues appropriately.

    Requirements:

    •2+ years previous customer support experience in a technical environment.
    •3+ years Unix / LINUX support experience.
    •Experience working on two or more hardware platforms (Dell, IBM, SUN, COMPAQ) and operating systems (Red Hat Linux, SUN Solaris, AIX, HP UX).
    •Must be able to display the following:
    – Positive and professional phone manner.
    – Strong commitment to service and excellent follow-through.
    – Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and
    changing environment.
    – Great analytical and problem solving skills.
    – Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    – Ability to work well independently while being a positive and supportive team member.
    •Familiarity with tape / enterprise backup solutions.
    •Ability to effectively learn and use new technologies.

    Desired:

    •Experience working on relational databases (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle) is highly desirable.
    •Knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, SMTP, DNS and client/server technology is preferable.
    •Knowledge of library automated systems a plus.
